Maoz system
The Maoz module connects to this A/C and to the central-heating system

Basis of the Module
The Maoz Alfredo module harnesses the power of the regular home air-conditioner to provide heat for the two largest energy consumers in every home/apartment- the central heating and Sanitary Domestic Hot water (DHW).
The common home A/C takes the heat from the outside air, into the refrigerant and transfers that heat inside using a gas-to-air heat exchanger.
The Air conditioner has high energy efficiency.
For every 1KW it uses – it will output more than 3KW of heat.
For example, a 3kW compressor-unit, will drive about
10kW of heat into the house.
Now – That’s a high-power system.
The Maoz-Alfredo utilizes these advantages to heat the central-heating water, at low energy, and DHW – fast and virtually non-stop hot water.
The heart of the module are the heat exchangers, the smart connection to the piping system, and the total control.
The gas-to-water heat-exchanger (HE) is placed in the path
of the refrigerant, and transfers the heat to circulating water, leaving very little heat to continue in to the indoor A/C unit.
The water-water HE passes the heat from the circulating water
to the Domestic hot water system.
The method of connections and control methodolgy are designed provide hot water as an online heater, and a non-stop water heater, all at 70% energy reduction compared to direct-electric or Gas.
A key to the module is its compact size and relatively low price tag, allowing any
flat / apartment, the luxury of central-heating comfort, and non-stop running hot water.
System components and operation
We use the regular A/C that is or will-be anyway installed at the home/apartment. The internal units can be a high-wall unit, or ducted .
We stress, that we don’t add another air-conditioner, but use the home air-conditioner, and just add another function to its capabilities – to heat water.
The Maoz module connects to this A/C and to the
central-heating system.
A “Rule of thumb” for the size needed is that in Israel
(Jerusalem), 1kW of heat is required for every 10 sqm in
the apartment
This unit transfers the heat from refrigerant to the water using a highly efficient heat exchanger. About 95% of the heat that is held in the refrigerant will be taken to the water. The size of the heat exchanger will vary depends on the A/C power output, with the limit being 20KW.
It then contains another water-water heat exchanger, to transfer the heat to the Domestic hot water system.
* The unit is installed near the outdoor A/C unit
* Alongside the unit – a water filter will be installed with easy
access for maintenance.
* The unit contains all the required control elements.
* The unit contains a built-in ~100W water pump, for circulating
the water in the home central heating piping system (for about 100 sqm).
* The unit contains a 5V-signal-0V control connecion, for controlling an external
circulation pump, for example an AC pump via an SSR (Solid State Relay).
* Up to 3 electric-taps can be controlled for zoning.
* The unit is designed for direct connection to the Under-floor heating manifolds,
saving the need for a Buffer-Tank.
* Communications between units is WIFI or wired, for ease of installation.
* Water connections: G1″ for union quick connection, both to the central heating,
and to the Hot water tank
* Power requirements: 200W AC power.
The kit is supplied with specific assemblies
The pipes between the HE unit and the tank assemblies, should be insulated 20mm 24-bar-cold Pex.
The installation should verify that a 3.5 bar pressure-reducer is in the water circuit. The assembly includes a 4 bar
safety pressure-valve
Like any water heating system, scale filtering is recommended.
The units is a screen based unit
The unit can be easily installed anywhere inside the home/apartment. Size 90×120 mm, wall mounted.
Operation is set by:
* A set of 16 programmed daily/hour timers.
* A Room-thermostat, together with the timers.
* The module timers can control up to 3 zones.
The main purpose of the unit is to turn the Aircon On/Off, on command from the
control of the water module.
* Place near the IR receptor of the Aircon (or near the High-wall)
internal unit.
* The unit has a 2m cable for the IR LED. It is recommended to thread the cable
to the immediate vicinity of the IR receptor.
* The unit sends the recorded signals of the On / Off signals of the regular
IR-Remote control of the Ai-conditioner.
