Combi Module
Benefits
connected to heating
connected to hot water
Add-ON to the A/C (OEM)
External Connection
70% savings
The COMBI module for the A/C, is a Hydronic unit that adds to the A/C the capability to economically heat the water-based Central-Heating and Sanitary (Domestic) water (DHW) .
Now the A/C can supply, both cooling and comfort heating, at 70% energy savings compared to Gas, while allowing the user to shower without waiting or limiting themselves, at 70% savings.
The unit is supplied as a kit, currently designed to be an external Add-On, the A/C, with minimal integration, for ease of installation.
A streamline integration will simplify preparations and installation.
The system is composed of:
-
-
The Hydronic unit, which should be placed near the A/C external unit.
-
The A/C interface unit, which should be placed near the internal A/C unit
-
Connecting kits to the water-tank.
-
User and Technician control: WIFI or wired.
-
The Module operates as follows:
-
-
The user may program different settings for heating (times, Zones, Temperature), and the Water-heating.
-
DHW Water-heating has priority over home-heating, or cooling.
-
On detecting either a time to heat the central-heating, and the room temperature is lower than set, or when the module “decides” there might not be enough hot-water for a full shower, the module will turn the water-heating ON.
-
On heating, the Module will perform a process whose main function is to command the A/C to turn ON to heating, and divert the hot refrigerant to the water heat-exchanger.
-
When central-heating – water will be pumped to the heating-circuits (Radiators or radiant-floor) , while during DHW the module will heat a secondary heat-exchange which will transfer its heat to the hot-water system of the home, including the tank.
-
When water heating ends, The Module performs an Off-process, and returns the A/C to the previous action it was doing (Air-Heat / Air-Cool / Off).
In the summer:
For the few minutes of Sanitary DHW heating, the A/C will continue cooling at about 70% of its regular capacity, and the user is not expected to feel any change.
In winter:
If the A/C was air-heating , then Air-Heating stops during water-heating.
-
Its purpose is to Interface the refrigerant (Coolant) side of the A/C, and pass all its heat to the circulating water of the Central heating or the DHW.
The unit contains all the Heat-exchanges, pumps, valves and control units, and serves as the main controller
1) The thermal heart – there are 2 heat-exchangers (HE), from refrigerant to circulating-water, and from circulating-water to sanitary water. Valves and controls direct the refrigerant fully, either to the refrigerant-water HE or to regular air-evaporator .
2) Refrigerant connections are fully external to the Evaporator and the Condenser units. 2-pipe connection to the Condenser unit, and 2-Pipe connection to the Evaporator unit.
3) The units are fully self-contained for water flow, with 2 pumps, to circulate to the Central-Heating and to the DHW Tank, with valve to direct to either, and pressure-reducer and filling mechanism for ease of installation.
Due to different sizes, the expansion-tank is external, and a 5V control is provided for an additional pump (for larger heating areas).
4) The module Contains the control unit of the MAOZ system.
5) Extreme weather backups:
* Use the DHW as an additional heat-source to the Central-heating.
* control for an optional addition of an auxiliary electric-heating.
6) With the installer in mind, the unit contains the circulation pump (calculated for a 100 sqm apartment), Flare refrigerant connections with 1-spanner operation, Pushfit non-spanner water connections, telephone crimp-plugs for fast electrical signal-wiring, and base-plate for simple hanging
7) Supplied in various heat-exchanger sizes (4,7,9,12,15, 18 kW), to connect to the differing needs of A/Cs, with refrigeration-pipes are in 3/8 – 3/4″ accordingly
8) User / Technician control is via WIFI or wired.
Heating Zones – up to 2 zones.
9) Optional connections are for:
* An additional pump (for larger area connections),
* Control over an external Auxiliary heating source (for extreme conditions)
* A “skirt” to cover the piping .
10) Size WxHxD : 40 x 63 x 32 cm.
* Power: The whole unit is 24VDC, Max 110W
The AC-DC 150W converter is supplied
Its purpose is to communicate and control the A/C internal unit, a visual status of the Module, and internal operations
On command, the unit communicates to the A/C using the regular IR interface (like any remote control).
For easy installation, the IR LED is supplied on a wire, to allow the installer to locate the unit at will, thread (Through the grill air-inlets) to place the LED near the IR Receiver.
The unit can “learn” to communicate with virtually all A/CsIn some units, a simple connection to the A/C electronics card is required.
The unit contains the WIFI module to communicate with the home WIFI.
A reset button is also available, and LEDs show the status of operation.
