Basics

The Sanitary (Domestic Hot water, DHW) water heater is a large energy user in the home, accounting to about 20%.
In its usage, customers expect that he/she will receive hot water, as soon as they open the tap. Simple as that may sound
This “simple” demand means that the heater should be able to:
• Supply hot water very quickly. Preferable Now
• Several showers at the same time,
• Several showers at the same time,
• Showers one after another – effectively non-stop
• The optimal heater should be Low-energy
The current methods use either very large hot water tanks, or high-power Gas units.

We propose a Different way

Motivation for the need of the Technology

The High efficiency (70% less energy than gas or direct electricity) and High-power source, that can supply the required power, is the Heat-pump (HP) technology
Similarly, our MAOZ Air-Conditioner to water Technology, will pass the great amount of power, to the water
But
1. water tanks are not built to accept this amount of power.
2. Directly heating the water is not enough, since we need about 17kW for each shower, (34kW for 2 showers at the same time)(1)
So how do we get this great 70% savings , into the water to the customer satisfcation?

The Technology

For these reasons we developed the patented “Heat-pump to Sanitary-Hot water Technology”. It has a patented configuration, connecting the HP to the simple water tank, with smart flow control, to absorb the high power, and divert it first to the user, and not just to fill the water-tank. It is stream-lined with the A/C to water technology. So now, the possibility to provide each apartment a full climate solution, with an excellent solution for sanitary water – became real. The customer will gain an increase in their quality-of-life, namely:

The heart of the units is the Heat-Exchanger (HE), coupled with flow control. It might seem easy, but the efficient connection between widely changing mediums of refrigerant-based-heat-pump, and changing environments of the water (temperatures, flows etc.) is not trivial.
And, we must enable still the regular A/C features, of air-cooling, air-heating (for fast space heating), in addition to water-heating
Lastly, the module is designed to be as add-on units (OEM), both to the A/C and the Hot-water tank, with minimal integration changes

a. Regular Shower flow is 7 Litres-per-Minute (LPM),
b. Required temperature rise: city water (10 ºC) to comfort level (45 ºC) = 35 ºC.
c. Each kW of heat raises 7 LPM by about 2 degC
